Itinerary:

Day 1 MARRAKECH – DADES VALLEY

We’ll pick you from your riad, and head to the High Atlas Mountains. You’ll be amazed with the gigantic peaks of the Atlas (highest is around 3000 m).You’ll also enjoy the breath-taking views of Berber villages, residing on the side of the mountains. Next is Ouarzazate, or Hollywood of Morocco, a quiet town with fortresses and villages. Lunch will take place in Ouarzazate. Following the road of thousand Kasbahs and discovering Dades valley, with its beautiful “green groves”, which contains fruitful trees, including Roses, nuts that stretch for miles across the canyons of anti-Atlas. Diner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 2 DADES GORGES – RAMLIA VILLAGE

After breakfast, we drive to the nighboring Toudra valley where we will have a short hike in the famous Toudra gorges. We will continue through Tizi N-Tfrkhin across the anti atlas mountains to the hidden village “ Ramlia “. He drive to the village will be on off-road through small oasis and Berber communities here-and-there. We will have our picnic under an acacia t Savanah ) tree. After lunch, we will continue driving through the communal village Tafraoute before crossing through sands harsh terrains to Ramlia.

The village will enchant you for its quietness, simplicity of life and generosity offered by people. You will have a cup of tea with a local family, then visit its main oasis to observe the irrigaton system which is demonstrates the local “water democracy” involving just distribution of water to the fields. Diner and overnight in an “auberge” or desert hotel.

Day_3 RAMLIA VILLAGE– MERZOUGA

After breakfast, we’ll keep driving off-road to Merzouga, closest village to the main road. In about 60 Kms, we will arrive by the archeological site of Taous, where original engravings mark existence of the first people to settle in the area. Next stop will be in the village of Khamlia, exclusively populated by black Berber people. You will attend their special folklore “Gnaoua” played using drums and metal instruments. Lunch will take place in a local restaurant serving Berber Pizza, stuffed with spicy ingredients and little pieces of meat. After lunch, we will go to the hotel in order to get prepared for the camel ride.

Your luggage will be stored in the hotel, and you will only take essentials the night in the camp (teeth brush, phone charger …) The camel ride will run for an hour and a half across sand dunes and amid sunset. You’ll be met with extraordinary hospitality and spectacular night landscape. After diner, you will enjoy local rhythms of the drums and jumbies before checking to your well-equipped tents (lamps, mattresses, blankets and other essentials provided).

Day_4 MERZOUGA – OUARZAZATE

You’ll see the magical sunrise, and then mount back your camels towards the hotel. You’ll have shower and breakfast, then leaving the Desert and drive to Rissani, 70 Kms north Merzouga. In Rissani, you’ll have a break to explore the traditional souk, which once was a trading point for caravans and villagers. After that, we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, but we’ll drive on an alternative track, passing by Alnif, Nkob, and a number of villages situated by “black desert” and Draa Valley, longest of its kind in Morocco. Arriving in Ouarzazate and check in the hotel.

Day_5 OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH

After breakfast, we’ll head back to Marrakech, but it is mandatory to stop in a fortress Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou , a world heritage site by UNESCO, and a set of Hollywood films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Babel and the Physician. You’ll climb around its corridors until you reach the top. We continue our trip back to Marrakech via High Atlas Mountains.
